Prolonged Heat Wave Settles In
MADISON, Wis. -- The ongoing heat wave baking southern Wisconsin is continuing and isn't expected to let up until mid-week. READ : Find List Of Area Cooling Centers The National Weather Service has issued an excessive heat warning through Thursday night. Severe thunderstorms with strong winds knocked down trees and power lines and flipped several camping trailers at a Fox Valley business, but have provided little relief from sweltering heat and humidity in Wisconsin. Straight-line winds cut power to customers in Wisconsin more than 30,000 in the public service in north central and northern Wisconsin. Utility Green Bay hopes to have power restored to all customers by Monday. Wisconsin Emergency Operations Center said no one was injured when winds gusting to 60 mph toppled RV campers to a company near the town of Menasha. Lightning damaged two houses in the area Minocqua. Power outages in Marinette County forced the evacuation of the care facility Whispering Oaks. Thirty people were moved to a community center in Peshtigo when power was restored. Storms notwithstanding, state emergency officials are urging residents to be alert of the heat. Tod Pritchard, of Wisconsin Emergency Management, said that people should take precautions. "Take it easy, cool down, get some water, go into a cool place," Pritchard said. "Just doing simple things like that can save your life and save your family's lives." NWS officials said that the hottest conditions will be during the afternoon and early evening hours. Temperatures will hover between highs of 90 to 97 degrees, with heat index values of 100 to 110 degrees. Overnight lows will dip into the 70s with muggy conditions. They said that this prolonged heat will have a life-threatening impact for some. Those with chronic health conditions and the elderly are at greatest risk during the heat wave. Emergency Responders Prepare For Busy Week The Madison Fire Department and paramedics said they are expecting a very busy week with heat-related calls -- everything from dehydration to heat exhaustion and even heat stroke. Early Monday afternoon, firefighters and paramedics at the Madison Fire Department's Station 6 responded to a patient on a bike ride who was likely suffering from heat exhaustion. The patient was experiencing chest pains and difficulty breathing. "It's pretty typical for people to overheat.Lightweight Camper Trailers - News

Teardrop Travel Trailers — A Lot of Bang for the Buck | Travel RVing
Travel RVing is taking a look at the towable travel trailers known as Teardrop Campers. The distinctive shape of the trailer –rounded in the front and tapering toward the rear –makes it appear to be a teardrop lying on its side. But there will be no tears from the RV enthusiast who is looking for inexpensive long week-end getaways once the Teardrop has his/her attention. Teardrops are lightweight, economical, affordable, practical and more fun than you can imagine.
Teardrop travel trailers are generally about 4 feet wide and 8 feet long. Of course, some newer models are now a little bigger. Necessity being the mother of invention, manufacturers build Teardrops to suit. Their small size makes them just what the doctor ordered for one or two people who want to enjoy the outdoors without pulling a large, bulky travel trailer or without having to buy a large towing vehicle. Teardrop campers can be pulled by almost
any vehicle including motorcycles. This not only saves fuel costs, but the unit is easy to tow (driver hardly knows the trailer is back there) and it is a snap to set up and take down. They easily go on or off-road, are easy to park on a camp site (most can be moved around by hand), and when you get home–you can park ‘em in the garage. Homeowners with HOA restrictions disallowing RVs can fully appreciate this.
These tiny travel trailers can comfortably sleep two people and have a kitchen that is accessed from the rear of the trailer. Some models have pull-out shelves for a stove or may even have a complete kitchen hidden away under the hatch-back. Since their setup is so simple and quick, RVers love to take them to tailgate parties at sporting events. While owners of larger RVs spend a lot of time inside their RVs, Teardrop owners are forced to spend their time outside (where camping is supposed to take place). As it turns out, Teardrop camping is a whole lot more convenient than tent camping and a whole lot easier to set up than a pop-up camper.
