Yamato’s booth at San Diego Comic Con really emphasized their endeavors into the artwork of Luis Royo and Boris Vallejo among others in three dimensions as sculpted by some of the top sculptors in the United States. Instead of focusing on their pieces created by those in Japan, which are usually from anime or video games, the giant display case at the front of their booth showcased the amazing fantasy worlds and girls from western artists. Many new pieces were on hand such as the Shin Tanabe sculpted Luis Royo piece Ritual in both a standard 1/7th scale and also in a larger 1/4th scale, which looked quite amazing in either scale, the aptly named Sexy Robot 001, and Luna, who was inspired by the art of Dorian Cleavenger and depicts a woman riding a moonbeam.

Older pieces such as Touch of Ice, Black Tinkerbell, and Golden Lover were on hand, and a few anime pieces snuck their way in as well via Reflect’s sculpts of Shunya Yamashita’s Rei and Asuka from Neon Genesis Evangelion . There were a few other new pieces intermixed amongst this all and all were quite intriguing; it’s great to see Yamato continue such a unique line and the sculpts that were shown off just keep getting better and better. Also on hand were some tattoo sets of Luis Royo’s artwork so that you too can look like his powerful, tribal women.
