(MMD Newswire) August 4, 2011 - - Phil Ash, President of Capitol Information Group, Inc., announces a name change of its former National Institute of Business Management division. The group will now be known as Business Management Daily (BMD).
"The change to 'Business Management Daily' better reflects not just the pace of business today but also the timeliness of our content, which features multiple daily updates via our websites and e-letters," according to Ash.
Business Management Daily's lineup of products supporting business professionals includes more than a dozen HR-related newsletters, as well as webinars, special reports, e-letters, podcasts and books. In March, Business Management Daily acquired the publishing assets of Alexander Hamilton Institute (AHI), a century-old New Jersey-based publisher. Alexander Hamilton products now published by Business Management Daily include the newsletters Manager's Legal Bulletin and Payroll Legal Alert, along with four looseleaf services, e-letters, and numerous CDs, books and training products.
BMD Publisher Adam Goldstein reports, "The AHI acquisition is an important step in our transformation from newsletter publisher to solutions provider - providing not just content but answers to the challenges our customers face, in the form and format of their choice."
Goldstein adds that, in addition to its print and electronic publications and training materials, Business Management Daily will continue to produce the annual Labor and Employment Law Advanced Practices ('LEAP') Symposium. This year's conference will be held March 21-23 at the Aria Resort and Casino in Las Vegas.
"Whether our customers prefer to learn by reading, hearing, web-surfing, or in person, it is Business Management Daily's mission to be the solutions provider of choice for today's - and tomorrow's - business professional," says Goldstein.

Groundbreaking Decision
June 30, 2011
On June 15, 2011, a Consent Decree in Ligas v. Hamos was finalized, dramatically expanding community living options for people with developmental disabilities, while assuring that those who choose to live in larger facilities may continue to do so.
The Consent Decree gives individuals with developmental disabilities who currently live in large private, but state supported, facilities known as Intermediate Care Facilities for the Developmentally Disabled (ICF-DDs) the choice to move into small community-based settings with the necessary supports. The Consent Decree also requires that an additional 3,000 people with developmental disabilities currently living at home be provided with community-based services.
Twenty years ago, Congress passed the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), and more than 10 years ago, the Supreme Court ruled that undue segregation is discrimination under the ADA. Notwithstanding the Supreme Court's ruling, most people with developmental disabilities in Illinois seeking residential services are only offered placements in large facilities. Illinois currently ranks 50th among all states and the District of Columbia in serving people with developmental disabilities in small integrated settings.
SNR Denton partner John Grossbart (Chicago) has been serving as lead counsel in the matter since its original filing in 2005, assisted by lawyers from Equip for Equality, the American Civil Liberties Union and Access for Living.
John stated, "We have always said that this is a civil rights victory."
SNR Denton provided its services pro bono.
