LOS COYOTES INDIAN RESERVATION: Arrest made in Eagle fire
An arrest was made Thursday afternoon in connection with the arson investigation of the Eagle fire that burned more than 14,000 acres on the Los Coyotes Indian Reservation.
The arrest was made on the reservation this afternoon, said Los Coyotes Police Chief David Sossaman. The person's name was not released.
Authorities said the fire started July 21 along Eagles Nest Road near Camino San Ignacio, about five miles east of Warner Springs. It took crews more than a week to put the wildfire out. More than 2,000 personnel battled the blaze, which spread east from the reservation to the Anza Borrego Desert State Park.
The wildfire reportedly started when a guard shack near the Eagle Rock Training Center was set ablaze. The shack was the only structure to burn.
Officials say the cost of fighting the fire topped $15 million.
