The Hamilton Basketball Association is a recreational program for boys and girls aged six to 18 years, with more than 100 teams in 10 divisions. The Stoney Creek Warriors Jr. B Hockey Club is seeking two assistant coaches, two video assistants and a team photographer for the upcoming 2011-2012 season. CEHL Adult Men’s Hockey is now accepting team and individual registrations for the 2011-12 winter hockey season. 1 st Annual Sport Extravaganza, celebrating Canada’s National Sport Day, on Saturday, Sept. 17, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., at Scott Park Arena, 876 Cannon St. Showcase your sport or club. Sport demonstrations, club or league registrations and information and try-it activities. Gently used or new sport equipment, uniforms, etc. (cleats, skates, balls, sticks, helmets, jackets, jerseys, etc.) will be for sale. All clubs, teams or families and vendors welcome go to www.sporthamilton.ca and register by Sept. 9.

Open House at Macassa Bay Yacht Club on Aug. 20, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. A charity barbecue, with proceeds going to Welcome Inn, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. You’ll be able to tour their striking clubhouse, their grounds and one of their docks. Some boats are planned to be available for you to step aboard. Displays from the Knot-a-Breast Dragonboat Team, The Power Squadron as well as a historical/cultural and architectural display about the club plus other musical entertainment will be available. There’ll also be a toy and colouring picture for the small kids, as well as a photo opportunity — bring your camera. Please note: Children must be accompanied by an adult and children touring the dock and/or boats must wear a “loaner” life-jacket. If you’ve wondered about MBYC, now’s your chance.
