Couple brings Amish-made furniture to Jefferson City with new store

"I always tell my husband that I was born in the wrong time," Melissa Klinger said with a laugh as she described the offerings of Primitive Treasures, a home furnishings store, has opened recently in Jefferson City. Although primitive Treasures has been opened since August 19 Melissa and Gary have been in the decorating business for much longer.Before moving to Dandridge, Gary worked for a woodworking company in Ohio and the couple began building small furniture to the side to sell at craft and flea markets. It was at this time that Gary and Melissa forged many of their connections with the artisans whose work now sells their store.

"We used to do big shows, and we really got to know many artisans, and this is how we get our products," says Melissa."When you go to the shows and see these people, it's like to come to a meeting, they are all like one big family as our candles, I know this lady (long). She watched our children grow up because they were small. "

However, although they were dealing in the kind of home decoration that Melissa likes, she still had a desire to share his passion for primitive decor with others by opening a shop of their own.
