Exchange Students : First Congregational Church of Rockford
EXCHANGE STUDENTS: Do you have room in your heart and home for a young person who is dreaming of being an exchange student to the United States? Host families can be of any age, single or two parent households, empty nesters or with children. Exchange students bring their own spending money and have health insurance, and your only obligation is room and board, reasonable transportation, and of course, emotional support.
Here are some specific students urgently needing host families:
Ho Jeong Chan is a 15 yr. old boy from South Korea who wants to become a doctor. He would be happy to stay with an old, friendly couple, and I would go to church. He loves children and is equally at home with a young couple with children. He enjoys watching and playing sports and cycling.
Lucy is a 17 year old from Switzerland who performs in a circus for children. It would be a child psychologist one day. It is easy to please and has dreamed of being an exchange student, since she was 11 years.
Sara, 16, is originally from Italy, and has religious activities. At home, the Catholic Ian active, but would be happy to attend a Protestant church. She plays the piano and sings in a choir. She also enjoys swimming, tennis and attending theatre and concerts. Note: she is allergic to cats.
Peter has grown up in Denmark, but was adopted from Korea. He is very outgoing and is in the top 10% of his class. He likes football and soccer, plus politics, weight lifting, and cooks for his family one night a week. His favorite subjects are geography and science. He is very fascinated by and appreciative of nature.
Silje, a 17 year old Norwegian girl, is described by her teacher as motivated and mature. Her interests include camping, painting, sports, and animals, especially horses, dogs, and cats. She also enjoys photography.
These are just a few of the students watching the mail daily to hear that a family has chosen them. There are many more nationalities available.
